Trullo Furfante

Do you know what a trullo is? Follow us up a charming path in the heart of the Itria Valley: hidden by an almond grove and protected by an ancient carob tree, this is the perfect trullo, like one of those available in Alberobello’s souvenir stands.  

Trullo Furfante is an example of restoration work executed with a real awareness of local culture.

In recent years, it has become popular to restore Apulian trulli in harmony with the spirit of the land, so much so that “trulli style” now indicates a way of restoring and furnishing these ancient buildings by focusing on the past and on tradition. The poetic renovation carried out by Azzurra, an architect, and Sebastiano, a wine producer, is an expression of this style. They have been able to create a magical place, a place expressing realness and authenticity, by using the art of local workers. 

Most of the furniture is made in masonry, and is elegant in its simplicity: the living room with its fire place, the cocciopesto kitchen, the bedrooms with their tuff headboards, the bathrooms where the color of the earth creates a dream-like atmosphere. And then there is the wonderful floor made with the typical local stone slabs, the chianche, blending with the clean and simple whitewashed walls with rounded edges, with the light softly shining in and plenty of cushions giving a touch of lightness. The same lightness perceived in those homes designed to be experienced with one’s children and friends.  

The interior’s subtlety and delicacy also continues on the outside, with charming relax zones, an inviting patio with trelliswork and a distinctive stone sofa.

The color white fills everything, even outside, where the purity of the trulli is lit up by the Mediterranean turquoise of the window and door frames, echoing the color of the sky and the reflection of the swimming pool’s water.

White, pure, immaculate… It feels like being in another world. Where the food, trees and tranquility become values worthy of being shared.

The two bedrooms are in the opposite sites of the building so that privacy is assured for all guests.

OUTSIDE: the trullo is surrounded by a very spacious terrace area complete with an al fresco dining area with barbecue, wicker lounge sits and a stone shower.

The trullo is provided with a swimming pool 4x12 meter salt water, perfect for kids.

The property is located on the top of a hill with an almond horchard and 1,2 hectar wheat field. Private but not isolated.
